The Art on Wheels project drew its inspiration from similar concepts such as Math on Wheels and Science on Wheels projects. This is run by Vidyavanam School in Anaikatti. The school works with several artists across various art forms. The idea is to create an opportunity for children to engage in art regularly.
Art is more accessible to the privileged, while for the unprivileged, it is presented as a remedial measure for therapeutic reasons. Children from nearby villages are picked up every Sunday to meet at a village square and they are productively engaged in some art form for two hours.
Art on Wheels project enables ease of access to different art forms for unprivileged children and thus becomes a part of their community activity. In order to implement this initiative more effectively, we are striving to take this concept to villages where access to art is very limited.
